Chicago Medical Center Office and Laboratory Building

This Illinois Capital Development Board project is a 1,300 sq. ft. renovation of Rooms 134 and 136 of the Chicago Medical Center, Office and Laboratory Building for the Illinois Department of Central Management Services.

CCJM’s scope of work included MEP engineering to renovate Rooms 134 and 136 into bio-safety Level 2+ laboratory space to support the bio-safety Level 3 laboratory suite. CCJM performed a survey of the existing mechanical system to determine the existing air pressure and how negative air pressure can be attained. Scope included replacement of terminal air boxes and distribution ductwork, low velocity air diffuser, and modification of fume hood exhaust. CCJM also designed new lighting layout to accommodate new partitions, and plumbing design for the emergency shower.
