Mariano Azuela Elementary School
The Mariano Azuela Elementary School, a CPS “L” template school in the West Lawn community in Chicago, IL, is a 113,700 sq. ft., three story K-6 elementary school.
CCJM worked closely with Legat Architects on this LEED Gold targeted project with numerous energy saving features including light shields, green roof, high efficiency condensing boilers, daylighting controls for all classroom lighting and integrated occupancy sensors that turn off lighting and sets back HVAC when rooms aren’t occupied.
This project and its LEED strategy was highlighted in the cover story of the September 2010 issue of CSE Magazine.
Prairie Crossing Charter School
In addition to housing, an organic farm and open space and trails, the development also includes a charter school.
