CCJM Tapped to Design Replacement Bridges near National Guard Training Center

July 15, 2011

CAMP HILL, Penn. - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has selected CCJM to design replacements for two state-owned, two-span bridges located within the boundaries of Fort Indiantown Gap, a 17,000 acre National Guard Training Center.

Asher Miner Road BridgeIndiantown Run BridgesDue to the pristine nature of area, salient issues in these projects include avoidance of impact on the habitat of various protected species (including the bog turtle, Clemmys muhlenbergii) and protection of the unique waterway, Indiantown Run, especially during construction since naturally reproducing trout are present.

The projects are located within the Fort Indiantown Gap Historic District boundary requiring extensive investigation to determine the cultural effect of replacing these structures. Given the mission critical function of these waterway crossings, maintenance of traffic during construction will be given the highest priority.

Preliminary design is anticipated to commence imminently.
