Park Lawn Center
Alsip, IL
Park Lawn Center is a 41-bed, intermediate 24-hour care facility for the developmentally disabled. Built in the late 1960’s, the building and programs were due for an upgrade. The project called for a phased 10,000 sq. ft. addition of two new living wings and complete renovation of the existing 15,000 sq. ft. building.
CCJM was hired to assist the Architect in:
- Creating spaces more sympathetic to the scale and informality of domestic life.
- Eliminating vertical circulation among all resident functions.
- Easing transitions among dining, activity and living areas.
- Updating the facility to applicable codes and guidelines.
- Addressing technical deficiencies.
CCJM’s scope included engineering design to:
- Design for the two new living wings
- Remodel the existing 2nd floor for office space
- Move the dining, kitchen and common activity area from the basement to the 1st floor
- Upgrade plumbing system
- Upgrade entire electrical system, including new emergency generator
- Boiler and Chiller replacement
- Meet Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines
