Park Lawn Center is a 41-bed, intermediate 24-hour care facility for the developmentally disabled.  Built in the late 1960’s, the building and programs were due for an upgrade.  The project called for a phased 10,000 sq. ft. addition of two new living wings and complete renovation of the existing 15,000 sq. ft. building.

CCJM was hired to assist the Architect in:

• Creating spaces more sympathetic to the scale and informality of domestic life.
• Eliminating vertical circulation among all resident functions.
• Easing transitions among dining, activity and living areas.
• Updating the facility to applicable codes and guidelines.
• Addressing technical deficiencies.

CCJM’s scope included engineering design to:

• Design for the two new living wings
• Remodel the existing 2nd floor for office space
• Move the dining, kitchen and common activity area from the basement to the 1st floor
• Upgrade plumbing system
• Upgrade entire electrical system, including new emergency generator
• Boiler and Chiller replacement
• Meet Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines
