We are happy to announce that we were awarded for participating in the Harry W. Nice/Sen. Thomas “Mac” Middleton Bridge Replacement Project. This bridge replacement was a very challenging project. Before, this narrow bridge saw frequent traffic accidents due to its narrow pathway. Now, the replaced bridge has four 12-foot-wide lanes and a center median, enhancing traffic capacity, visibility, and overall safety for drivers.
For this project, we used the design-build methodology. This project approach differs from the typical process where the owner works with a designer and a contractor who only communicates with the owner. In a design-build project, however, all parties collaborate directly, relieving stress on the owner and ensuring seamless communication between the teams. A design-build approach often allows for more flexibility and better results. Because of this project, we were awarded the DBIA Design-Build Project/Team Merit Award in the transportation category (other than aviation).
