P3 Purple Line Water/Wastewater

MTA Public-Private Partnership

CCJM was an integral member of a large Design Team for the 16.5-mile-long Public-Private Partnership (P3) Purple Line Project. The Purple Line Transit Partners hired CCJM as a core sub-consultant to address and resolve issues revolving around the relocation of 42,000 LF water mains and 19,000 LF sewer mains, as well as the need for transit bridges and retaining walls. Purple Line connects New Carrollton in Prince George’s County to Bethesda in Montgomery County for approximately 35 transit and highway structures, and over 100 retaining walls.

CCJM was responsible for the relocation of small distribution water mains and transmission mains, in-line thrust block designs. We even expedited an innovative design for large diameter steel water mains with carnegie or welded connections to existing PCCP water mains. The relocation of sanitary sewer manholes and piping involved 34 new steel and RCP encased sewer crossing under the proposed dual tracks. This project also required analysis of 77 existing sewer lines affected by the live load of both the light rail vehicles and HS20 vehicles.

Project Cost: $5,600,000,000
